We had arrived late the night before so we hadn't checked out the hotel yet. I got up early and went on the search for breakfast. It took me awhile but I finally found the food court inside the MGM Grand and picked up McDonalds which I took back to the room. After breakfast we headed out to check out The Strip.
The heat was overwhelming! It was already over 40C at 9am so we needed to get inside. We checked out New York, New York first but apart from the gambling area, nothing was open.
We walked across to the Monte Carlo
and then tried to cross the road, which is easier said then done! We finally made it to the Miracle Mile shopping centre where we sat down for a cold drink and watched the thunderstorm
and then strolled through Planet Hollywood
on our way to Paris
The boys made friends with a lizard out the front
and then we went up the Eiffel Tower for some great views.
The heat was too much so we hopped on the monorail back to the MGM Grand. We had some lunch at the food court and then headed to the pool for the afternoon. We hung out in the lazy river for a few hours and then went back to the room to get ready for our night out on the town!
We had dinner at The Outback Steakhouse on The Strip
and left with what we thought was plenty of time to walk to The Mirage for Cirque du Soleil Love. Even though we could see The Mirage, it took us forever to get there. We ended up jumping in a cab and then running through the casino. We followed the crowd and ended up at the wrong theatre! So turned around and ran back, finally finding the right one and taking our seats just as the lights were going down. It was close!
The show was fantastic! Poor Sammy was so exhausted that he fell asleep right at the very end so I had to carry him through the crowds to try and get out, but we all really loved it.
We stayed to watch the volcano
before getting a cab back to the MGM Grand.
